Are You Into Recording Rap Beats? Did You Download the Right Rap Software?

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

So you like throwing down beats for rap tracks. I bet you knew that you could download rap software, but did you download the right one? See you are artist and you understand the importance of having a good program to record all of your tracks. The problem today though is that some of these mixers are really expensive and hard to use.

Are You Into Recording Rap Beats? Did You Download the Right Rap Software?

If you are in the market for a mixer that you can use on your computer, then I want to tell you that you download rap software that is SIMPLE to use and will not break the bank. Some of the music production systems out there can cost upwards of ,000! How in the world can you lay down your tracks when you can't even afford to buy the software for it??

There are alternatives out there though. Make sure that when you are looking into a track program, you are looking at these key points:

- It is inexpensive
- It is easy to use
- It offers a money back guarantee
- It can convert tracks to MP3 format

Because you want to be a successful artist, please make sure that you download rap software that is going to make your tracks better. If you buy junk, it is going to produce junk. It really is that simple. Ask any good artist and they will tell you that you need to download rap software in order to really expand your artistic style.

With all of the technology out there today, it is important that you use this technology to your advantage. If you decide to download rap software, you will see just how easy it is to lay down tracks that will blow your audience's mind!

I've been recording beats for as long as I can remember and there are very few track programs that can deliver what they say they will. Please stay away from these - you will only be disappointed. The best site that I can recommend is [http://www.YourVirtualStudio.info/]. It is user-friendly and inexpensive. You can visit this website and they will offer you a free video demonstration of their software.

There are plenty of resources out there for you, just make sure that you are doing your homework first! Best of luck to you!

Music Maker Software To Produce Your Own Beats

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Have you ever thought about making your own music but assumed it would be to hard? Well in this day and age music making software makes it all to easy and you don't have to spend thousands of dollars on digital audio workstation equipment.

Music Maker Software To Produce Your Own Beats

Most music making software can be downloaded and installed on your computer so you can make beats and produce your own music. With sound effects, drum, guitar and other instrumental sounds built in all you have to do is use your mouse to make a sequence of beats to make music.

Some things to look out for are - can it be used offline as well as online which makes it handy when you don't want those distractions like email, MSN and Facebook.com. Does it comes with lots of samples like drums, piano, guitar and others. Can you make multiple bars and create more beat patterns instead of just looping the same bar like most software out there does.

Using music sequencer software can be a lot of fun and addictive because if you don't know how to play an instrument like the drums you can just use your mouse to put it all together. If it doesn't sound right just change the beat till it sounds good.

One thing to think about if you want to create your own music professionally using music making software is to make sure the software uses high quality 44.1 stereo. There are to many beat makers out there that only use mp3 and honestly the quality is no where near as good as it should be.

Why Create Your Own Music Using Music Maker Software In The First Place?

Well some people use programs like this to make beats for their songs they have written, some do it for fun and others sell their beats online and make good money.

But if your serious enough about making your own music you could produce your music with the intention of becoming famous. Imagine being a one man band making your own rap or hip hop songs with wicked beats.

Studio Gear vs. Software

This is why modern technology is so great in this day and age. You don't need all the studio gear like turn tables, motifs, m-audio sound cards, cubase, synthesizers and drum machines because the software has it all built in.

Studio gear can cost as much as ,000 but by using music software you can pay under and still make quality beats. You do the math.

Ok so what else do you need other than music making software?

First your going to need a PC or Mac computer with some free space, some speakers and a creative mind. That's it. No need to buy expensive music equipment worth thousands of dollars.

Software like DubTurbo has the ability to produce quality music and is one I highly recommend. Music maker software is just so much cheaper than studio gear and it does the same thing.

For Widows Only - 5 Mistakes To Avoid This Holiday Season

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

It's the holiday season, whoop dee doo, and you the newly widowed find yourself engulfed in mistletoe and smiling faces. Everyone's singing a happy tune - Everyone but you - You wonder, how will I get through this holiday season without Him?

For Widows Only - 5 Mistakes To Avoid This Holiday Season

I'm here to tell you, you can. And you will.

While I can't change your circumstances, I can offer 5 mistakes for you the newly widowed to avoid this holiday season which will help turn your sadness into gladness.

Here they are:

Wearing your heart on your sleeve -

Moaning, whining, groaning is no way to spread holiday cheer. Beat those blues -- Go shopping! Bake bread! Dust homemade brownies in confectioner's sugar. Plastic plate them, wrap everything in see-through wrap, then stick a bow on it.

No. Not for you. For someone you don't know.

You need not be rich as Rockefeller to honor that responsible receptionist who smiled brightly that frosty morning you were late escorting Him for that dreaded doctor visit, or to make that next door neighbor who prepared spaghetti dinner for you after the funeral feel appreciated. A home baked goodie from your kitchen, a box of inexpensive chocolates from the corner drugstore wrapped in foil and tied in fancy ribbon with your hand written note complimenting a job well done is bound to win praises and melt the iciest of hearts -- Yours!

Performing the simplest act of kindness at this time of the year is life's greatest gift, to you. I promise you will feel great and you will make a friend.

Showing too many tears -

Not a good thing, especially this time of year. Yes, you the newly widowed miss your life partner. Life sucks without him. And, you hate every freaking light on that tree. But don't let it spoil your holiday.

Instead, honor your man. Let His spirit fill your senses. Go to church, light a candle; make a donation to a favorite charity in His name. Heck. Toss 4 quarters in that metal kettle, the one with the white-bearded guy dressed in red suit standing next to it. Let the klink of silver-coated copper coins fill your brain as they bounce to the bottom. Then raise your eyes to the heavens and thank Him for watching over you and helping you get through another holiday.

Getting caught with a frown -

Greet friends, neighbors, and family members with a great big smile. Hold your head up. Make eye contact. Flash those pearly whites. Say in your brightest cheeriest voice, "Happy Holiday! Happy Healthy New Year!"

You will be amazed at this infectious behavior. You will get a good chuckle at friends', neighbors', and family members' reactions, expecting you the newly widowed to behave differently. I realize we can't be the life of the party, but we sure can have a good time trying.

Dressing down -

Dress for success sounds trite. But it's true. The simple act of cleaning up, putting on a pretty face, and donning a frilly outfit will work wonders for your self esteem. You will look good and you will impress others.

So go to your closet, pull out something red. Pair it with that black silk skirt or pair of black velvet slacks you stashed away thinking you'll never wear this again. Open that jewel box. Oh, c'mon. Ain't a lady on planet earth what doesn't own a holiday broach or string of pearls. Okay, so they're not real. I won't tell. I promise.

Making it too complicated -

Widows get a bum rap. Don't be deterred if your former friends don't include you in their annual house party. The one you used to attend in a former life.

Throw a party of your own. Invite the dear women and gentleman you met at bereavement. Ask everyone to bring something good to eat or drink. Betcha 4 commemorative quarters you'll win the mending hearts and respect of those widows and one widower. And, you'll be one baby step closer to eking out that niche in your new life.

Being depressed -

It's the time of year that brings out the best in us; the worst in us.

But here's the kicker. On this one, we have a choice. Make it positive. Think happy thoughts.

Missing a life partner, especially this time of year, is normal. Being sad, is normal. No matter our culture, our religious belief, or our holiday traditions, we share grief. But if you pay attention to my 5 mistakes to avoid this holiday season (outlined above), you just may find yourself with an ear-to-ear grin and caroling a happy tune, too.

We have only to look to Rudolph, that flying red-nosed reindeer, for inspiration. Against all odds, look what he did.

Everything About Exclusive Beats

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Nowadays, several artists are discovering methods to redefine music and learning to create music that is original and different. They are always looking for ways to compose their music distinctive and to make stand out from any competition. Beat sounds normally utilized by producers and musicians in mixing two or more sources of sounds that are directly put together where they interfere with one another in order to achieve the needed result of the beat.

Everything About Exclusive Beats

Once you have an exclusive beat, you were able to pay or procure a beat that contains a limited ownership. It merely indicates that the beat can be used only by persons who were able to create it or have paid for the rights of the product. Obtaining an exclusive beat enables the buyer to become the exclusive owner of the beat, and it cannot be utilized again by a different owner.

There are some things you can make to assist you in getting some exclusive beats if you are fascinated to it. First of all, you have to listen and decide what kind of beats you like. Since you really want to obtain an exclusive beat, you have to ensure that it is what you truly desire. You must weigh all the options and narrow down your choices to those beats you want the most. Next, you have to make a decision if you like demonstration, lease or exclusive privileges to the beats.

Next, you must decide if you want demo, lease or exclusive rights to the beats. It's just as important that you know how to exercise whichever rights you choose. Demonstrations have elective choices that are advantageous. When you rent a beat you do not obtain an exclusive right of the beats. Leasing is an excellent idea in conditions where you possibly have thoughts of recording a demonstration after you have listened to a few rap beats; however, you really do not intend to make something severe about it. Renting works well when you sell mix tapes or giving away your song for exposure.

Exclusives are extremely alike to hire but instead get things into the subsequent level, like producing an album. You like to possess the masters in order that you may mix the lyrics with the tracks. This is the right moment when you are prepared to shrink packaging and bar coding your compact disks for business use. Hence, there are no other artists who are allowed to release songs that you have made in that album; it is exclusively for you only. Lastly, you may purchase and obtain them immediately in your e-mail through online. The price normally from cheap to a more costly price depends on the track and also the producer.

After the beats are bought and released in the market or in any outlets, whether you create a big amount of money or not, you are no longer obligated to the original source where you bought your beats. The vendor has only the privilege to show a beat that has been sold while all the other rights are exclusively yours.

Exclusive beats contain a method of providing meaning to the industry of music. They are frequently utilized in websites, commercials, albums, performances and some other promotions. Possessing exclusive beats show distinctiveness of the person. Aside from the wholesome ability of the owner, it also illustrates the uniqueness of the music because of its dissimilarity from other music.

How the Mediterranean Diet Beats High Blood Pressure

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

The Mediterranean diet is not some new fad diet ... dreamed up by a weight-loss "guru" or as a new health measure. It is thousands of years old. People living along the Mediterranean Sea have been eating a natural diet ... that has been proven in numerous studies to reduce the risk of heart attack and keep blood pressure from rising.

How the Mediterranean Diet Beats High Blood Pressure

The great thing about the Mediterranean diet is ... it's a pleasure to eat and you're much more likely to stick with it. It's easy to adopt this diet as there are no special requirements. Unlike the radical requirements of many fad diets, the Mediterranean diet doesn't ask you to make impractical changes in your eating ... it offers you a way of eating that you can maintain long-term. It will lead you to long-term health benefits.

What is a Mediterranean Diet

Amongst the people of Greece, southern France, and parts of Italy ... natural whole foods are a large part of the diet. Fruits and vegetables, fish, nuts, and olive oil are the heavy hitters in protecting your heart and lowering your blood pressure. Drinking wine with meals is an old custom ... and gives even more health benefits.

The Mediterranean diet doesn't look at all fats as bad. Instead, this way of eating makes wise choices in the fats that are used. Low in saturated fat ... the Mediterranean diet is full of healthy omega-3 fatty acids and monounsaturated fats.

Since mainly whole foods are eaten along the Mediterranean Sea ... the deadly trans-fats -- found in fast foods and bakery goods -- are greatly reduced.

Living on a Sea Gives you Lots of Fish

Fish are a big part of the Mediterranean diet. Eating lots of fish has been recognized as being heart protective for quite a while, now. Especially, fatty fish are good for your heart and blood pressure ... they are full of healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

Eating fish 2-3 times a week is a great way to lower blood pressure and ensure a long, healthy life.

Lots of Olive Trees Grow Along the Mediterranean Sea

Olive trees grow on sunny hillsides ... providing both tasty olives and golden olive oil. Olive oil is used in most Mediterranean cooking ... drizzled on rough chunks of whole-grain bread, mixed in salads, used in making tomato sauces. The flavonoids in virgin olive oil lower blood pressure and increase your levels of good HDL cholesterol.

That ... and olive oil tastes great and gives off a wonderful fragrance when heated.

Nuts Are an Ancient Energy Source

Since the Stone Age, nuts have been an important source of energy. Shunned a few decades ago because of their high fat content ... nuts were given a bum rap. The fats in nuts are good fats ... healthy fats that will lower your blood pressure and protect your heart.

Just a handful of nuts -- especially walnuts -- is a tasty way to protect your heart.

Wash Your Meal Down With a Glass of Red Wine

A glass of red wine goes great with Mediterranean meals. Your heart will also enjoy the glass of wine. Red wine is rich in healthy flavonoids -- anti-oxidants that protect your heart from dangerous free radicals. Enjoy a daily glass or two and lower your blood pressure ... lower your risk of heart attack.

Recent studies have shown that light red wine drinkers have less risk than non-drinkers. Just don't over-do it.

A Great Diet to Start Today

The main feature of the Mediterranean diet is the focus on natural whole foods ... a shift away from unhealthy processed foods with their dangerous bad fats. And, the good thing is ... it's so easy to get started. Nothing radical ... just ask those who live healthy lives along the Mediterranean Sea.

Start Making Your Own Music Right Now

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Alright so you are probably reading this because you are interested in making your own music. You have heard those cool beats in the songs that you love and wonder how it is done. With today's technology, you can make your own music right at your computer with a music beat maker software. You don't really need a lot of equipment to start making your own beats. When you are starting out as a newbie in this music industry, there is no need for all the fancy equipment you see in studios. The most important tool you have is your brain. That is where all of the creativity lies. The only other thing you really need is the music production software, but know that it is not the software you use that matters most. Each person has their own preferences as to which software they like best, so you will discover what works for you in time.

Start Making Your Own Music Right Now

So if you are really interested in making your own music, then you would need to get a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). A DAW is essentially a music making software. If you are new this you probably won't even know where to start. There are lots of DAWs out there and it is hard to choose which music beat maker would be the best for you. I wouldn't recommend starting off with the complicated software that professionals use. Those cost hundreds of dollars and have a big learning curve. The time it takes to learn how to use to software properly can frustrate you and maybe even turn you off from music production.

With a great music beat maker you can make hip hop beats, rap beats, reggae beats, techno beats, trance beats, house beats, and much much more. The only limit is in your mind. Your creativity defines your music and there is no limits to what you can do.

You should also know right now that it takes some studying to be a great music producer. Just messing around on the computer is not enough. You need to at least know the basics of music theory. If you don't learn any music theory, you will not be making the best music that you can possibly make. Remember, practice makes perfect. No one gets everything right the first time. It can be difficult in the beginning, but stick with it and you will make music that impresses everyone around you. So get started right now, and see how easy it is for you to make beats right from your own computer!

Beat Making Programs: For Starters, Using DubTurbo Is An Excellent Choice

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

I found DubTurbo to be a great alternative to anyone that doesn't have a huge budget to being making their own beats. If you're looking for a quick and easy way to start then this is a great program. This is my complete DubTurbo assessment.

Beat Making Programs: For Starters, Using DubTurbo Is An Excellent Choice

I want to start my DubTurbo review by going over some more about it. It's clear to me that the creators had a simple design and functionality in mind when they made it. I'm able to complete full beats in a matter of minutes. DubTurbo has a series of helpful learning tutorials to help you get started, but it is very easy to use, so I do not know how much time you spend on them.

To begin you'll be able to pick the pace of the beat using the metronome, then you'll pick the drum kit (which they will provide over 50). You'll then be able to use your keyboard to start the rest of the process. There are different buttons on the keypad that will each represent a different drum in the kit. If you make a mistake, it's easy to go into the editor.

You can now begin adding in other sounds and instruments. They provide you with a ton of sounds already, but you'll also be able to download and easily connect your own instruments to the software as well. When you purchase the program they offer free updates, which means new drum and keyboard sounds to life. You just keep layering on new or existing tracks until you get the sound you want. From there you can add the song, but you must provide your own microphone.

Of course, DubTurbo isn't free, but at the price of this article it's only .97, which from what they say is only temporary. I do not know if this will be the price for good or if it really is temporary because it just came out and this is the special opening discount price. Whatever though because it is a welcome alternative to the need to pay hundreds of dollars for expensive and complex programs.

As you can see I think this program makes more than enough sense for anyone starting out. Obviously there is other products out there, but most of them come at a much higher price tag. At least with DubTurbo you know you'll be getting quality right out of the gate without having to break the bank.

DubTurbo is one of the best computer based beat making programs [http://www.BestBeatMakingPrograms.com] around. Check out my blog site to see samples of what it can do. Click the link to go to www.BestBeatMakingPrograms.com [http://www.BestBeatMakingPrograms.com]

Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme & Spiritual Roots of Hiphop

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

"Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme" is a creation that was seven years in the making with a large-scale collaboration including a variety of original, passionate and active Hiphoppers. This thought-provoking and intimate documentary takes a closer look into the world of freestyle emceeing, providing a unique, honest, and accurate representation of true Hiphop and rap culture; its roots and art forms, and a fleeting moment where the spiritual force is manifested in spontaneous verbal outbursts.

Freestyle: The Art of Rhyme & Spiritual Roots of Hiphop

Background

The roots of emceeing can be traced back to the Africation tradition of oral story telling, to Southern preachers elaborating on gospel teachings, to the 1970s with DJ Kool Herc throwing a party for his sister, "Jamaican toasting" (shouting random things into the mic to hype the crowd) to music that was popular to the crowd at the time. The artforms of emceeing and deejaying evolved simultaneously along with graffiti art and breaking, leading to the birth of the Hiphop culture.

Emceeing (MC) is composed of two artforms: freestyle and written rhymes. Usually people who are good at one, aren't so flash with the other. Sometimes you can't tell whether a lyricist is a true freestyler if they claim to be, but one way to determine truth from BS is through battles.

Battles

The film commented that a freestyle rap battle looks (and sounds) violent, but it's really just humour in exaggerated tones. This really made me think. To me, the violent aspect of the description is reminiscent of a krump battle or a true bboy battle in its truest, rawest form; the energy, attitude and aggression is all there, but it's just a front, their battle face which they (usually) take off as soon as they step off the battlefield. It's more about the moves or the rhymes you can pull off while you're in that zone, and what happens during the battle stays there.

One of the first real freestyle battles I seen live happened very recently: one side was experienced and one of the best in Australia; the other, was a first-time battler but not new to freestyling at all. To see the reaction of the inexperienced one after the other did his first set, crucifying him and continuing to do so in his following sets, was kind of awkward - we know battles can be cruel but it's part of it, but just seeing the guy getting really offended and disheartened made me think twice about battles and their significance.

The other MC apologized and claimed defeat, admitting he was too harsh; I remember him saying a while ago that he wasn't really into battling because of the spiritual nature of emceeing and how battles can really become quite derogatory and negative, and now I finally see that for myself.

I am reminded of that battle while the documentary shows the most highly anticipated MC battle in '93, pitting MC Supernatural against Craig G of the legendary Juice Crew in the Lyricist Lounge; they were considered the best freestyle MCs at the time and the first battle saw Supernatural get smoked, some even saying it was the beginning of the end for his career.

Supernatural - The Greatest Freestyle MC?

Nevertheless, Supernatural is still going strong, still doing what he loves and what he does best, his famous technique for getting a crowd to bring items and hold them up to him as he goes along each one, rhyming about all sorts of random things. They say nothing rhymes with "orange" but Supernatural has ways to make it work; to arrive at such skill he read the regular English and rhyming dictionary daily as well as using anything and everything as a source of inspiration for his lyrical flow.

Freestyle emcees are urban poets with mental stamina improvising verses over a beat - unedited, unrestricted. Freestyle, as claimed in the documentary film, is "somewhere between a song and a speech"; the art of improvisational rap that is rarely recorded and often neglected by the media or portrayed negatively as violent and derogatory.

Why all the negative connotations of Hiphop and rap?

Think about the socio-economic backgrounds of the people, the community from which the Hiphop culture evolved - poverty, racial discrimination, stereotyping and inequality. Individuals speak on their experiences and their views on the world in a sincere and candid manner; this is not all the time, but the media for so long has chosen for the general public what they listen to, creating a misconstrued truth which commercial rap artists adapt to for their own personal benefit.

What we can do as individuals is get educated and contribute to the positive reinforcement of what Hiphop is really about - a culture, a community that promotes peace, love and unity.

Through DJs whose instruments are turntables, beatboxers who can replicate drum sounds - they provide the music and beats for the dancers to physically express themselves and for the MCs, the urban poets, to tell a story; graffiti artists who substitute paintbrushes for aerosol cans and those that recognize and 'live' this culture lead a spiritual life, seeing the potential for the Hiphop culture as a catalyst for social change and self-empowerment.

"The ultimate in Hiphop is that fleeting moment of escape."

The art of rhyme, this spiritual, raw form of creative expression will find that one can become so immersed in the zone that they really can't explain or teach people what they're doing - rather, tell them about the basics and foundations and allow them to explore and find meaning for themselves, hence the terms "free" and "style".

There are no boundaries, no limitations, no prepared lines - just the moment.

I first purchased Sonic Producer to create a background track for an academic video I was making. I had no knowledge of music or beat creation. The only music "activities" I did were my transfers to my ipod or similar. In brief, I knew little to nothing about making beats with software.

Upon first looking at its main interface it was simple enough to understand but I really needed the tutorial videos to give me that little extra kick to get going. The videos it offers as tutorials are good but practicing with its features was the biggest help. It took me about an hour to make a really good beat for my project. Not hard at all considering that I knew next to nothing about making music.

I now use it in my spare time to create small catchy beats I think about at random. I have used it for one other major video project I recently did. It was far easier to make, about 20 minutes at most since I now knew what to do. Whenever I get a bit of free time I like playing around with it to see what I can come up with. Many times I am surprised by what I am able to create. It's just really simple to make a great beat with this software.

The only possible thing I could see wrong were the quality of tutorial videos they offered on the site. They aren't the best and I pretty much figured the software out better just playing around, but that just goes to show how user friendly their software is.

How to Make Hip Hop Beats - 10 Easy Steps

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

When you're just starting out how to make beats it can be fun and frustrating at the same time. Trust me I was there. But it really is easier then you think. If you're making a beat here are 10 tips that will get yo stated.

How to Make Hip Hop Beats - 10 Easy Steps

1. Pick a style- Know the style of beat you want to make before you start making it. Like rnb, rap, pop, etc. There have been plenty of beats that I made and could not figure out what style it was.

2. Pick A Major Artist- Think of a known artist that you would want to make the beat for. Like if you chose a style a rap, think now what rap artist do you want to make the beat for. Try to imagine that artist on your beat. This will make your hip hop beat-making experience a whole lot easier.

3. Listen To Their Song- Take a listen to the rap artist you are making the beat for songs. See the style. Get a feel for the kind of hip hop beats the artist raps over.

4. Formatting The Song- Very important. formatting is, the intro, verse, chorus, verse, bridge, etc. That's all it is but basically you just change the order around however you feel like it. Turn on the radio and see how your favorite artist formats there song. When instruments come in, when they drop out. The most basic form to start with is, 2 or 4 bar intro, 16 bar verse, 8 bar chorus, 16 bar verse, 8bar chorus, 16 bar verse, 8 bars chorus. This is the most basic beat-making song format. This is very common in rap. If you want an even simpler way, you can create an 8 bar loop and keep it the same throughout the whole song. I have seen this done a lot.

5. Laying down the beat- I have learned that for starters, it's easier to start with the drums. Kick, Snare, Hi hat, are always a good start. Record a pattern for four bars with those first. Then layer that with maybe some toms, cow-bell, symbols, etc. Whatever you want to use. THE DRUMS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT IN MAKING HIP HOP BEATS! Your drums must hit and hit HARD. The best way to get your drums hitting hard is by not using "pitty pat" free kits you downloaded from the internet for free. If your drums are weak, then your beat is going to be weak.

6. Laying Down A Melody- This is where most hip hop beat-makers have the most trouble. Because most eat makers can't play the keys. For starters, you might want to learn basic keyboard skills. The major thing you need to learn are, major and minor scales. After you learn that, try and do different combinations and patterns with the drum beat you have made. Use an instrument like, a lead guitar, horns, clav, something that will stand out. Your melody can be however you want it, but for starters, you could do a 4 bar melody, or an 8 bar melody.

7. Layering The Beat- What is done a lot in beat making is layering. If you have your whole beat finished. You can go and make it sound bigger by layering. All you do is fill in some gaps, do the same pattern you did with one instrument with another instrument. Do this throughout your beat. This will make you beat sound a lot fatter.

8. Pan- Panning is basically having an instrument all the way to the right, all the way to the left, and anywhere in between. You pan for all kinds of different reasons. It gives each track its own little space in the stereo field. There are no rules for panning, put you have to do it. So just try it out and see what you like best.

9. The Mixdown- Very important! Very Important! Very Important! If you have a poor mix on your beat, then you have pretty much wasted your time. When mixing a beat, start with each track individually. Solo each track and make sure it sounds good by itself. EQ it if you have to, but if each track sounds good by itself, the whole beat will sound that much better. DO NOT DISTORT! If your master levels are in the red before you bounce to disc or .mp3, your distorting. Don't worry about if its not loud enough. You never ever ever want to distort. If you are distorting, check any instrument that has boom or low end, Like a kick, bass, sub, etc. these tend to distort more often.

10. The Bounce- Now that you made you're beat, Its the hottest hip hop beat ever, you want to put it on cd or upload it to the internet. When you're exporting a beat for cd, Use .wav file. 44.1 16bit. If you want to upload to the internet use, 320kbps (the highest .mp3 quality) or 128kbps. Most websites wont accept 320kbps because the file size is too big. So go with 128kbps.

These are all just guidelines to help you get started. There are millions of ways to make a beat, But this is just to help you get your feet wet if you don't know where to start.

How to Make Professional Rap Beats in FL Studio in 4 Steps

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

There are many factors that need to be taken into account if you wish to be successful at creating professional, industry standard beats in FL Studio. In this article I will touch on the key factors that you will need to master and this is what separates the pros from the amateurs when producing hot rap beats.

How to Make Professional Rap Beats in FL Studio in 4 Steps

Where to Start

Some people have a preference in what instrument they first want to layout when producing beats in FL Studio. Some prefer the melody, some prefer the bass line and some prefer the drums. No answer to this is wrong or right, and it is mostly a matter of opinion, but for starters I will recommend laying out a good drum pattern first.

Before we get started, set your BPM (beats per minute) to something between 85 and 95.

Creating the Drum Pattern

First, search through your sounds for a nice, hard-hitting kick sample. In the example that we're going to create, you'll want to try to find a kick sound that hits hard but does not contain a lot of low-end sub bass (this will make it easier to mix with the bass later). Once you have found a good drum kick sound, fill in the steps on the step sequencer of where you would like the kick to be heard. Now, right-click on the sound in the step sequencer and select "Send to piano roll." This will put your drum kick pattern in the piano roll where you will want to adjust your velocity. Velocity is what gives the sound a human feel and not so robotic. Technically, velocity is to adjust how hard something is hit, or how hard a string is plucked, a piano key is pressed, etc. Play with this a little bit until your drum kick pattern starts to sound more human and natural.

Next, find a hi-hat sound that you like and again, click the steps where you want the hi-hat to be. Generally, every other note on the step sequencer is a good place to start. Now, do the same thing that you did with the kick sound and send the channel to the piano roll and adjust the velocity. This is even more important on the hi-hat than it is with the kick.

Now for the snare drum(s). I usually like to layer a few together to get the sound just right. I usually like a tight and hard-hitting sound, so I might mix a clap sound with a rim shot and then take 2 different traditional snare hits and turn the level down a little bit on those and then pan one to the right and one to the left at about 35%. For starters, you'll want to put your snare drum on every 4th step in the step sequencer.

Now, you can add more personal touch if you want using the same techniques already mentioned. Feel free to throw in a cowbell, tambourine, cymbal, etc.

Creating the Bass Line

In most hip hop, a low bass sound is used so really all it provides is power and thump and possibly a catchy tune that helps to "glue" the drum sounds together with the rest of the instruments. Choose a low bass sound that will give a good rumble when being bumped, and if there is too much high-end frequency to the sound then you can always cut it out with proper EQ or low-pass filter. I usually like to have the bass frequency set at 50 to 75hz and have the kick set at about 85 to 90 hz. You can also do this in reverse (have the kick lower frequency than the bass). The most important thing is that they don't both occupy the SAME frequency space. This is where most amateur beat makers struggle. It can take a lot of practice to mix the drum kick and the bass line together so that they don't sound weird or cause distortion when they're on top of each other. This will probably be the last thing that you master when learning to make beats because it can take precise EQ and compression to make it sound crisp and professional.

When writing the bass melody, start out simple. Choose a note scale that you want to use and stay within that scale. If you don't know music theory, start out by researching scales and pick one at random. Next, put a blank sound (use a sampler channel, or just turn the volume all the way down on the sound) in your step sequencer in fruity loops. Right click it and open the piano roll. Fill in all the notes in that scale, in every octave, and drag the edge of them so that they show up for the whole duration of the full pattern. Now, open the piano roll for your bass and click the little piano icon in the top left corner of the window. Select view > Ghost Channels. Now every note in the scale will be highlighted gray and you know to stay in these notes while writing your melody. This is a tip you really don't want to ignore because it can help you a lot!

Writing the Main Melody

First, choose your instrument. Let's pick something simple like a piano. Write a melody that goes along with the bass line. Sometimes you can copy your same bass line but then add more notes in between (remember I said to keep your bass line simple). If you have researched some music theory, you should use some chords here and there and use some type of chord progression. Remember to stay in the scale and always view Ghost Channels to make sure you're in the scale in you're unsure. If you want to stay simple you can just have the piano playing for the melody, but feel free to select a couple other complimentary instruments and add some accents here and there. Sometimes I like to use something like a violin just to emphasize certain notes or phrases in the melody.

Writing the Hook

The hook is where you can really go wild because it is the most climactic part of the song. You still want to stay in the correct scale of course, but you can add lots of strings and other instruments. You should either elaborate on the normal verse melody and make it more complex or you should write a totally new melody in the same scale. Remember to try to picture it with vocals on top of it and try to add things that will compliment a finished product / song.

How to Rap Fast - Simple Exercises to Flow Faster

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Speed is an important part of an MC's arsenal; though you don't need to rap as fast as Twista- who currently holds the world record for fastest rap- you do need to learn how to rap fast to improve your versatility. Here are several exercises you can do to improve your rappping speed:

How to Rap Fast - Simple Exercises to Flow Faster

Follow LL Cool J's Advice. One of the greatest rappers of all time, LL once recorded a track where he rapped the alphabet while saying "the" in between each letter.

So it came out like "The A-The B-The C- The D, etc."

This is harder than it sounds, and is a great exercise to help you rap fast. Try going through the alphabet, saying each letter as clearly as possible, and increase the speed at which you rap it. After a week or so you will start to see results.

You can take this a step further and make several different raps based on the alphabet. For example, in one exercise you could say "A-B-C-D-E (PAUSE) F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P (PAUSE)..." and on the next time around, put the pause after D, G and P.

Why? Simple. If you want to learn how to rap fast, you'll also need to learn how to stop fast. It's like driving a car: NASCAR drivers are just as good stopping a car as they are speeding one up. By adding breaks in your flow, you're also giving the listener time to process what you said before racing onto the next lyric.

Twista has some great lines, but few people ever listen closely enough to catch what he's saying. Don't let this happen to you!

You can learn how to rap fast using these exercises, but remember- speed is only one aspect of what makes a dope MC.

Rap Beats - How To Find Your Style With The Right Rap Instrumentals

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

One of the reasons that new and experienced rappers have trouble finding the right rap beats is because they really don't know their style of rapping. A lot of rappers think that they know, but they really don't. This is because they spend so much time listening to their favorite rap artists, and as a result they can get wrapped up in that artist's style, which may or may not be comfortable.

Rap Beats - How To Find Your Style With The Right Rap Instrumentals

If you want to stand out as a unique rap artist, then you must have your own unique style. The way to find and develop your style is to take a break from listening to other rappers, and flow. Record yourself, and listen to only yourself for a period of time that allows you to really zero in and notice the unique styles and projections of your voice.

Once you start to get an idea and a comfort level with your flow, then you can begin listening to rap beats and rap instrumentals that match what your hear yourself recording. This may sound like a funny or weird task, but the results will surprise you. You will now be able to pick beats that will not only fit your style, but they will make you sound even better than ever, and the right rap beats will give you that 'platinum' sound, almost overnight!

Once you pick a few rap instrumentals that you think will fit your style, record over them, and spend some time listening to the recordings over and over again. You will hear things that you didn't hear before, and with this you will be able to develop and perfect your style even more. You may find that some of the beats that you though fit your style don't, so you can change them.

For this reason, it is probably better that you start off leasing non-exclusive beats, this way, you can work on your style with the beats without spending a lot of money. So if you find that a beat doesn't fit your style, then it's no big deal because you didn't have to spend thousands of dollars on it.

There are many sites popping up all over the internet that will allow you to lease non-exclusive or exclusive rap beats and rap instrumentals, so check around until you find the beats that you believe fit you, after doing the exercise that i talked about earlier.

This is a very simple technique for improvement, but if you try it out, I would bet that the results you will see will be much worth it. Try It!

Reasons to NOT Record Rap Music

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

I have been a sound engineer since 2000. My first clients at Studio 5.1 recorded rap/hip-hop music. Even before that time as I worked at other studios in the San Diego area, I recorded artists looking to be the next "rap star." My experience with rap music in general has lead me to the conclusion that I no longer wish to record rap music.

Reasons to NOT Record Rap Music

I make no secret of my feelings towards rap music in hopes to combat the desires of those who wish to engage in making rap music in hopes that they will choose a more noble course in their lives.

The following are reasons and rationale why I have decided to discontinue recording rap music:

1)The lyrics of rap music are degrading to women (and therefore degrading to the men who use such language in their lyrics), they are unabashedly vulgar, they glorify an unhealthy level of materialism, and greed that perpetuates selfish, ego stroking content that is completely counter-productive in society.

Women are precious and deserve respect. Rap music not only degrades women, but falsely teaches women that in order to obtain acceptance from a man they must be a promiscuous, one-dimensional waste of a person.

Vulgar language makes up almost 50% of the total lyrical content of rap music. Most often this vulgarity is part of the mistreatment and sexualization of women or in promoting violence to one another.

The materialism, greed and uncaring self promotion so common to rap music lyrics stands against all socially productive ideology and opposes all that is good for the human race. Life should be about what we can do for others; what we can add to the world - not about what we can take from it - or who we can take it from.

Rap music has set at its core the lowest qualities, perpetuates shameful and demeaning treatment of women, champions drug use and violence, and is an assault on enduring principles at the foundation of civilized society. These reasons alone are sufficient motive to discontinue any activities to create, promote, or produce rap music, music videos, or anything like unto it.

2)While not universally true, an overwhelming majority of rap artists behave in such a way that places an undesirable increased legal risk studio owners. Rap artists tend to engage services with little to no ability or intention to pay for services rendered.

Aside from including lyrical content about drug use/abuse, some of the rap artists have engaged in discussing the sale of and distribution of illegal drugs outside of lyrical content in the presence of studio staff. This information places our facility in an unwanted position and is no longer neutral on illegal acts even those that occur outside of studio time. We either need to report the illegal activity possibly bringing hostilities to the studio and its employees, or not reporting the activities and becoming an accomplice to one degree or another. The liabilities from this information is not welcome.

Work has also been performed for music videos, as well as recording time, with deposits paid and the remainder of the work tenured without ever being paid the remaining amounts. Rap artists, more often than not the same individuals that fill their songs with lyrics about how much money they have and all the fancy cars they drive, seem to be the clients that have engaged recording services and "left their money at home" or some other excuse for not paying. I even had a client not pay me for over a year claiming that 'he couldn't pay me because he was in prison for selling drugs in an effort to earn money to pay me for the video work.' Such hypocrisy and scapegoating is not a recognized excuse for non-payment. Socially moral studios should not endorse engaging in any illegal activity, including violations to intellectual property laws such as using beats or music tracks illegally for any design or purpose. Morally concerned studio should also take the position to not endorse or condone any morally offensive or illegal activities engaged in efforts to pay for services rendered.

It is my feelings that rap music in its current state is an insult to civilized society and should be reformed or discontinued.

Nick Galieti is the owner/engineer/producer at Studio 5.1, a recording studio in Salt Lake City, UT. Studio 5.1 currently specializes in recording acoustic based music and audio for video productions.

Rap Beats For Sale - Yours May Be the Next Big Thing!

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Rhythm can become striking when combined with harmony sometimes creating a compelling sound.

Rap Beats For Sale - Yours May Be the Next Big Thing!

Authors of the songs they make can inspire and shift audiences. You can also make money by doing what you would gladly do for nothing. By creating the right mood and using ones imagination, combined with a musical sense - you can create your own striking compositions and profit from their sales.

Today modern technology makes this much easier. This same technology has spawned the sale of fresh and original products online every day. Somebody who can create with a computer their own songs and rhythms can earn money if they are rather good at it.

It is absolutely essential to use software that is understandable, because the principal advantage is first to remove the complications of life, not make it worse. The internet offers numerous amounts of software that produce beats. The biggest ones can be used easily and can help you produce music and movements that online buyers are looking for.

You should have a good understanding of how rhythms are made.

You need to find a rhythm for the striking of a song that inspires you and go from there. The main part of rhythms construction is made up of 4-8 stages and played throughout the entirety of the whole song. The song style of rapping is a form of poetry. Rapping is another form of poetry that originated in the 1800's in West Africa with a band of wandering poets and musicians called the Griots that were a lot like their modern day counterparts called "rappers".

After having a good assembly and a good arrangement of your beatings with the introduction, and the choir, you need to write your words always keeping in mind what message you are trying to tell your audience. It is important to always focus on what you are trying to tell your listeners. This will keep your minds creativity flowing and let the words and music come to you naturally.

As you type words, think of your audience first. You want the actual configuration of what you tell them to be freely moving. Writing is a lot easier without making words rhyme as the objective feature of rap hits is that they tell a story with or without rhyme.

Now, you and your amazing words need to have a theme and be place on the web for sale. Finally with your new technology, combined with a new confidence you can now go about the business of creating music.

5 Best Running Music in 2009 - Run Longer, Faster and Better

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Want to do a Triathlon but just nervous about running? Smile, the hardest part is over...because the hardest part is actually deciding to start running. Let your fear fall behind you and start by thinking of running as fun!

5 Best Running Music in 2009 - Run Longer, Faster and Better

Seriously if I can enjoy doing dishes to my favorite tunes - well maybe enjoy is an overstatement, but appreciate at least - would be more correct, then I'm sure you'll start enjoying your morning run, with the right music in no time.

I understand music is super personal, however having talked to many runners from my gym and Triathlon club, its surprising how many of us have the exact same songs when it comes to running. So here you have it, my list of some of the best music out there.

1. Lady Gaga - Poker Face: A motivational upbeat song that beats are just perfect to get those legs warmed up and moving.

2. The Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling: The beat of this is almost perfect if you're running a 7 minute mile...almost too perfect. The lyrics are fun, non-offensive (OK, maybe "lets burn the roof" somewhat not so nice, but in general...)

3. M.I.A - Paper Planes: For anyone who hasn't seen the movie Slumdog Millionaire, go watch it! You'll be addicted to this song.

4. Pitbull - Hotel Room Service: OK the lyrics are a bit disturbing "Forget about your boyfrend and meet me at the hotel room" and that's just the beginning but it is a great upbeat song, and if you can actually not get offended by the lyrics then it becomes quite amusing.

5. Eminem - Lose Yourself: Despite numerous attempts of my friends to convince me that Eminem is just bad rap, there's something about the phrase "If you had one shot, one opportunity to seize everytihng you ever wanted, one moment...would you capture it or just let it slip" that makes me want to push myself.

Hope all of these should amount to about 20 min of music, which is perfect for just starting to run 2-3 miles.

Enjoy running!

Making Music With A Beat Making Software

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Are you a musician looking into making your own beats? Making music is a fun endeavor and it can also be quite lucrative if you become good at it. Over the years, producing high quality sounding beats that level up to the professionals has become an easy task. Professional producers spend millions when it comes to equipment but do you know that you can actually create studio quality music with your computer? Yes, it is possible with a beat making software.

Making Music With A Beat Making Software

There are various available software to choose from. They cost anywhere from around to 0 a piece. Sound loops are different purchases and do not come with the package in most cases. To produce detailed tracks, you will need at least a thousand high quality sound loops. However, there are some that come with the software which can be enough to get you started. Just open the box and you can make beats in a few minutes. If you are wondering how the whole thing works, it is actually easier than you think.

The software synchronizes the sound loops and keeps them in tempo with each other. You only need to choose the loops that sound good together and keep them within your chosen time signature. Some software will provide you options to edit the loop for more customization. The sound loops are usually grouped into categories like bass, drum, guitar, synth, etc. They are further broken down into sub-groups for each instrument which makes the loops more detailed.

Once you select your loops and build your music, you will be able to produce professional sounding tracks faster than you think you can. A loop is essentially the thing what makes a rap. Loops are sets of bars that are repeated over and over again to create a rap. Therefore, it is essential to understand first how to make a loop.

Beat making software does the initial job, what you do next is entirely up to you. Once you make your music, you can upload it on the web, sell it or probably lay vocals on it. Before shelling out a lot of money for the software, consider the options that are available to you. There may be some that cost a lot but have very little differences from the cheaper ones. Check out reviews from different websites in order to get a good idea for your software purchase.

Learn to Drop a Dope Freestyle Rhyme in 28 Days

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Freestyle rap is awesome - it's lots of fun, and you don't need anything to do it but your own mouth. Spontaneously coming up with a dope rhyme can make you the envy of your friends, and the centre of attention. It doesn't take you long to learn either. Let me guide you through a few key points that you need to learn to effectively improvise rhymes.

Learn to Drop a Dope Freestyle Rhyme in 28 Days

Step 1: Stream of Consciousness, and Flow

A lot of people think that the first thing you have to learn when you freestyle is how to rhyme. I disagree. The most fundamental thing when you're learning to freestyle is getting a continuous flow, a stream of consciousness. Don't worry about rhyming, you can throw that in later. Just talk and see what comes out. Do it alone in your room if you like. You can talk about things around you, or things that happened to you. It doesn't matter. Just keep your lips moving, don't worry if it doesn't even make sense. The most important thing is the flow of words. Also, focus on making the words hit on the snare - the offbeat.

Practise this for 30 minutes a day for a week.

Step 2: Rhymin'

Next, you do need to learn to rhyme. By this stage you've probably already started slipping in rhymes anyway. Think of a word, or pull a word from a dictionary. Say or write down as many words as you can think of that rhyme with that word. For all you grammar school kids, remember it doesn't have to be a "perfect rhyme" - it's okay to rhyme "physicist" with "limitless", or "adventure" with "mention", even though it doesn't even end in the same letter. It just has to be good enough so that the ear hears a rhyme.

Practise this for 15 minutes a day. Then 15 minutes of straight rapping, every day for a week.

Step 3: Topicals

After that, you need to hone your topical skills. Pick up your dictionary and pull a word and rap as much as you can about that word. When you can't think of anything else to say about it, stop and think of something more to say, and rap it. Also, you can get a friend to give you words or phrases to rap about. As you get better at this, your friend can start pitching you more and more ridiculous things, to challenge you to fit them in. So at the start you might have trouble rhyming about the word "cemetery", but eventually he could tell you something like "two elephants sitting in the jungle" and you can make a rap about that.

30 minutes a day for a week.

Step 4: Punchlines

Now there's a classic structure in hip-hop that's used, especially for battles. The form is set-up, then punchline. A punchline is any line that has a joke in it, or a diss towards your opponent in a battle. (Not, as some people think, a line that's about you punching someone) Normally the set-up won't have anything to do with the punchline - it's just a line you say to rhyme so you can set up the punchline. For example, say an opponent in a battle is wearing Adidas sneakers: "Check out the crowd, yeah they're coming with me/Take off your Adidas man, you're not RunDMC". The punchline is the most difficult thing to master in rap, but it's also what gets the crowd really cheering. However, you need to learn the fundamentals of flow, rhythm, rhyme, and topicals first, otherwise your punchlines will sound like ass.

Practise this for 30 minutes a day for a week.

Of course, while the fundamentals of freestyling are important, what is equally important is having dope beats to rap over. There's no point in putting all that effort to become a rapper, and then have your production let you down. What you need is some phat, original beats. For that, I recommend checking out these reviews of beat-making software.

Setting Up a Winamp Shoutcast Server

,
HOW TO MAKE RAP BEAT:

Setting up a SHOUTcast server can be a tedious adventure if you don't know how. You have to know your WAN IP and a lot of the things that most PC users cringe at the thought of having to do on a computer, but that's not you! You're here to learn this stuff and learn it well! Or at least click buttons until it does something, heh.

Setting Up a Winamp Shoutcast Server

If you don't know what WAN IP means I will go into a little detail about that later on. Right now just keep what little sanity you have left from reading the first paragraph and trying to stop your brain from melting, It will all be over soon.

Basic SHOUTcast server configuration is usually what most people get caught up on since it can be pretty difficult to get running smoothly. Luckily this guide will get you streaming your favorite music to the masses in no time! Or if you prefer, broadcasting your digital DJ skills to the internet. Some things you will need to have written down or memorized at least will be explained in detail as we go along! So grab a pen or "notepad.exe" if you prefer and lets get started with Winamp SHOUTcast Broadcasting!

First things first, do you know your IP address? This is your PC's address on the internet, its a simple string of numbers with 4 sections divided by a period. It will be where people using the internet will connect to to listen in on your SHOUTcast Server.

I've gone ahead and got your WAN IP address for you, Your IP is 68.229.252.209

WAN IP stands for Wide Area Network and is how you communicate with other websites and people on the internet. Your WAN IP address I just grabbed for you and just now should be correct but if you are behind a Proxy server then the WAN IP listed above will be no good as it will only show the Proxy which you are connecting through. If you do not know what a Proxy server is then you should be ok. Write down your IP address and read on.

With IP address in hand and a lot of self esteem Lets go ahead and download the tools we will need to setup and install a Winamp SHOUTcast Server. This guide is assuming you do not have Winamp installed or the SHOUTcast Server. head over to Winamp.com and download Winamp for free, this link will open in a new window.

Once you have downloaded Winamp you will need the Winamp SHOUTcast DSP plugin, once again this link will open in a new window, go there and download the plugin I'll wait. Oh that was fast! I hope you downloaded the right SHOUTcast DSP plugin for your version of Winamp, anyway lets move on.

Now its time to download the actual SHOUTcast Server that will connect your Winamp to the internet and broadcast your noise loud and clear! Head over to SHOUTcast's Download page this link opens in a new window so no worries. Once there click on "be a server" it should be the last link of the three options. Download the SHOUTcast Server program where ever you saved Winamp and the Winamp DSP plugin to, hopefully you saved all three files to the same spot. Ok we now have all the tools we need to bump some serious Ludwig van Beethoven beats. Lets install this bad boy or girl.

Install Winamp first, we'll start with the easy stuff then work our way up the ladder to harder configurations. The installation of Winamp should be fairly straight forward and will probably only take a minute to install. Winamp likes to open itself once properly installed to show off its awesomeness so once you see Winamp's main window you should be done installing Winamp. This is my Winamp installed with a custom skin, if your winamp looks different don't worry, I have a custom skin which makes my Winamp program look like this, yours should look similar however. congratulations you have successfully passed the point of no return, read on.

SHOUTcast DSP Plugin hard at workNext lets install our nifty little Winamp DSP Plugin I was talking so much about earlier, once again it should be an extremely simple and quick installation, you pretty much just have to hit "OK" for it to install, don't mess with any default settings it might show during installation. The Winamp DSP plugin is what will be creating the bridge between Winamp and your SHOUTcast Server allowing any audio which is playing in your Winamp to be miraculously heard by many people despite the distance they are from your PC. Isn't the internet grand? If you don't see the "SHOUTcast Source" window open immediately then you might have to turn it on, go to, Winamp Options Preferences Plug-ins then in the list on the left under Plug-ins click on DSPEffects and you should see your installed plugins listed in the window to the right, highlight "Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP" and your SHOUTcast source screen should pop up instantly.

Oh yea, here's a tiny version of what the Winamp DSP screen looks like!

You don't have to configure anything yet, but trust me, we will be playing with this window more later.

Install the SHOUTcast Server program last! Why? Because I don't want to re-write this article if you installed it first! This is what you will use to stream audio from Winamp and its really simple to configure so you're in luck! Install the Winamp SHOUTcast server leaving all the default options alone during installation. Once its complete it will pop up the SHOUTcast Server "Readme.txt" read the Readme.txt carefully to fully understand how everything works... OK fine, don't "RTFM" I'll just show you how to configure it, happy? Me too!

Configuring the SHOUTcast Server GUI

Open the SHOUTcast Server GUI (GUI stands for General user Interface or Fancy Window With Buttons to press")

Star menu / Program files / SHOUTcast DNAS / Edit SHOUTcast DNAS configuration

A spiffy text document will pop up called sc_serv.ini, this is the brains of the SHOUTcast Server and ultimately controls how the program controls incoming connections to your audio stream. We only need to change one simple thing in the server configuration file (sc_serv.ini) which is on line 29 which would be the password field which should currently be defaulted to "yourpasswordhere" change the password field from "Password=yourpasswordhere" to whatever you want just don't include the " "'s. Once you have thought of a nifty password for your server close the sc_serv.ini making sure to save your changes. Your SHOUTcast Server is now configured, lets tell Winamp about this!

Configuring the Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP Plug-in

Go back the SHOUTcast Source window and click on the Output tab. Check "Connect at Startup, enter your WAN IP address ( 68.229.252.209 ) into the "Address field and change the password field to the password you entered in the sc_serv.ini. You might want to check the box next to "Automatic Reconnection on Connection Failure" and set the reconnection time out to 15 second for good measure. This is telling the plugin where your SHOUTcast server is located, the password to gain access to your SHOUTcast server, and if it disconnects for whatever reason to try to connect again within 15 seconds.

Once you have entered your information into the Output tab click on the "Yellowpages" button. Enter a brief description in the "Description" field telling what your stream is about, an example would be "JW's Rave music online DJ remix" or "JW's radio talkshow". If you do not have a website you would like your listeners to be sent to if they click the title of your stream on the SHOUTcast Showcase page then leave the URL blank, if you do have a website you would like to direct your listeners to then enter it in the "URL" field. The Genre field is the type of SHOUTcast broadcasting you will be streaming out, examples are Talk, Rap, Country, Rock and Roll.

If you have an AIM or ICQ screen name you can enter them if you want to but its not necessary. Also completely optional is the #IRC, if you don't have an IRC channel then this isn't necessary to change.

You have successfully configured your Winamp Nullsoft DSP plugin! Now lets throw everything together and kick tires!

broadcasting from your New Winamp SHOUTcast server

Make sure you have winamp open with the SHOUTcast Source window open, then go to Start menu / Program Files / SHOUTcast DNAS / SHOUTcast DNAS (GUI) your server should pop back up and display a bunch of mumbo jumbo which usually you don't have to pay attention to, its just the server telling you whats vaguely going on behind the scene. Switch back over to Winamp and throw some MP3's on your play list and press play, Your SHOUTcast Source window should connect to your SHOUTcast Server and begin streaming whatever you have currently playing in your play list!

Congratulations, you've just installed and configured a Winamp SHOUTcast Server and didn't even blink! This is a fairly basic setup which could be fine tuned to allow such things at more listener slots so more internet people can listen to your stream rather then the default 32 limit, but you have to take into consideration how stressful having 200 listeners on your stream can be to your bandwidth. I would say for a basic cable modem a 32 user limit is pretty beefy and having a full server may cause your listener's connection to your stream to become unstable, which is an easy fix to change the limit of listeners, just edit the sc_serv.ini again and search there for "MaxUser=32" and adjust the number to whatever you fell comfortable with.

Things that could possibly go wrong:

If you can't get your Winamp SHOUTcast Source to connect to your SHOUTcast server

You might need to double check that you entered your WAN IP address correctly. Also double check your password.

Listeners complain about disconnects or sluggish sound in audio from your stream

Chances are you need to turn down the bitrate of your audio. Go to your SHOUTcast Source / Encoder tab and reduce the Encoder Settings to a lower bitrate such as 24kbps, 22.050kHz Mono.

Creating your beats:

There are three crucial steps that need to be followed for creating a beat in any genre. They include

· Creating a baseline · Creating the audio loops · Laying out the midi drum patterns.

Creating the baseline is the integral step in any beat creation process, because this lays the foundation. This is the skeleton upon which the other aspects of your music will revolve about. So make sure that the baseline is built to your satisfaction. Moreover this baseline is the sequence that will be played more often in a repeating loop and you will want to make sure that something that is played repeatedly is pleasing and alluring to the ears.

Audio loops form a primary component in genres like rap and hip hop. To create the audio loops, you can use whatever instrument your creativity demands. Besides you can also add a lot of special effects to transform the mood and the tone of the music. You can compress, stretch and create a plethora of other such effects with Dub Turbo and improve the nuances of your music composition. Once you have created your first audio loop, you can add many other audio loops as you wish. After the first audio loop is done, creating the other audio loops will not be as time-consuming as the first one.

Then we have the midi drum patterns. You can use as many and as varied midi drum patterns as you wish, but make sure that you don't make the final effect a discordant cacophony. They can be set in a pattern of a group of unique notes and can be made to play as a secondary baseline.
